Upcoming Meeting Calendar:
Lynne Bassett lecture titled – “Flora & Fauna: The Embroidered Bed Rugs and Quilted Petticoats of New London County, 1750-1810” New London County has an extraordinary needlework heritage that will be explored in an exhibition at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT., for which Bassett is the guest curator. (The exhibition will be on view from February 12 to May 1, 2022.) This lecture will focus on two groups of objects—distinctive quilted petticoats from the mid-18th century and embroidered wool bed rugs—to explore design inspirations, technique, and family connections.
Bobbi Fitzsimmons will lecture on how she makes quilts based on children’s picture books and has done presentations of the quilts for libraries, museums, colleges and, of course, for children. She also will present with her trunk show. Special thanks to Joan Halley was inviting Bobbi to stay with her.
