Bluebird of Happiness – Karen Kay Buckley
May 16 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Bluebird of Happiness
I am so excited about this project.  Yes, there are a lot of pieces and yes, it’s going to take you a while to sew all of the pieces.  But, while sewing you will learn a lot.  You will learn how to make perfect points, perfect circles, perfect ovals, smooth curves, smooth stems, some hand embroidery and just for added fun…..a little reverse appliqué.
The inside appliqué area is 14”x 14”.  With the additional black border area the piece finishes 20” x 20”

A maple syrup colored background showcases the leaf fabrics and autumn colors of the leaves. Paper piecing makes each block perfect. Simple techniques bring great results. You can choose a rounded end or squared off table mat to fit your table. This is a great small project to kick off the season that will use some of the beautiful fabrics available.

Nov 22 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Travel Journal Quilts @ Rocky Hill Grange, East Greenwich

In this 1 day, class students will begin work on a Travel Journal quilt. We will paint the map, the main focal point of the quilt, then combine maps, photos, journaling, and other saved items into a unique, personal wall hanging. Students will need to bring along photos and postcards printed onto fabric to use in the layout of the quilt. I will demonstrate making a simple raw edge fabric collage element to use. As it is a 1-day class I run through the project and get students started and on their way to completing this project at home.
