Membership Meeting – Pat Delaney – Red Hot Quilt Party!
Jan 17 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Meeting Agenda

  1.  Program – Lecture: Pat Delaney Lecture

Red!
We see it everywhere, every day. It can both grab our attention or just lie in the background. Pat will explore the origin (How is it made?) and the symbolism (Where did it come from?) with you. Red is woven throughout our language in common sayings and it is buried deep in our memories.
Pat’s own associations and memories with the color red have formed her collections and influenced the palettes for her quilts. Come and learn—you will be “seeing red” in all its glory while discovering what it can do in your quilts!

In addition to our lecturer, the program’s team will be hosting a Red Hot Quilting Party.  Please wear something
Red and Hot!  Bring a Red snack to share and a red quilt for show
and tell if you have one.  Come to join us in celebrating this memorizing
color in quilting!

A Day at the Imrov with Billie and Kassie
Feb 16 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

“A Day at the Imrov with Billie and Kassie”

Let loose and go wild!  We will push you to quilt outside the box and creatively sew blocks together without a pattern. Several improv piecing techniques will be demonstrated such as deconstructing traditional blocks and learning to create new ones.  Even though you are going wild, you will also be in total control. This is a great way to use those scraps and bust your stash! Great for everyone from beginners to advanced quilters.

Fabric Requirements:

  • Scraps in all shapes, sizes, colors, and designs (no scrap too small)
  • 1 yard background fabric

Other supplies:

  • Sewing machine in good working order with a quarter inch foot
  • Rotary cutter and cutting mat
  • Basic sewing supplies – scissors, pins, thread, bobbins, seam ripper etc.
  • Spray starch
  • 6 x 12-inch ruler or larger
  • Gifts for teachers so you get a good grade (optional)

Membership Meeting – Beth Heftler
Feb 21 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Beth Heftler Trunk Show – “Perfection is Overrated” A lively presentation of Beth’s quiltmaking journey, from her first frighteningly awful attempt at self-taught quilting to eventually founding EvaPaige Quilt Designs with her own line of unique patterns. Included are thoughts on the design process as it unfolds in 20 minute increments in the midst of the chaos of running a home and raising three small children, how a quilt can be a thing of beauty even without matching seams and perfect points, and the many joys of bringing her designs to the masses and discovering that they often can become converts to the freeing idea that “perfection is overrated”.

What Makes a Quilter Tick?
A Humorous Look in the Mirror
Join me for a fun-filled, interactive, eye-opening look at quilters and all the little quirks, passions and obsessions we all share. We’ll hold a mirror up to ourselves and see what others see when they look at us. Bring your friends and family along and maybe it will help explain, to you and them, why they look at us the way they do.

STORM AT SEA – David Sirota
Apr 19 @ 9:15 am – 3:15 pm

STORM AT SEA
Using my “No More Tears”© Foundation Piecing Method
Are you curious about paper piecing? Do you and paper piecing already have a love/hate relationship? Do you love the accuracy you achieve, but hate the process of getting there? Well, this class will change that to a LOVE relationship. We’ll be using the versatile Storm at Sea pattern to learn my “No More Tears”© method of paper piecing. Although we won’t be finishing the entire project in class, you’ll have at least one full block, and the tools you’ll need to finish it at home, in half the time you’d expect from paper piecing. Don’t believe me?  You’ll just have to come and see for yourself!
