Meeting Agenda

1. Program – Elections, Silent Auction

The May meeting is our annual fundraiser for the New England Quilt Museum. Silent auction donations will include hand/home made items such as: baked items, jewelry, knitted & quilted items, clothing, bags, painting, sculpture….the possibilities are endless! Other items may include quilting supplies, quilt kits, books and supplies. Guests are welcome to attend for $5, so bring your friends and help us raise much needed funds for the museum. As the NEQM Executive Director, Nora Burchfield, said, if quilters don’t support the quilt Museum, who will? We encourage you to bring something in May, whether it be a home made item or your checkbook. And equally important, visit the museum and take part in all they have to offer.
Please bring your donations to the May meeting and give them to Allison Wilbur in the lobby. If you would like to bring quilting supplies, please make sure they are securely bundled, bagged or tied. Please print out the form at the end of the newsletter, fill it in and bring it in with your item. This is always a festive evening and a good time to shop for all your gifting needs. Please be creative in locating items to sell and remember to bring your checkbooks!
Have questions? Suggestions? Please contact  Allison Wilbur
At the May meeting we will also have on display a trunk show from the Studio Art Quilters Associates (SAQA).

Shredded Fabric Art Quilts Workshop

One-day/Six-hour Workshop
In this workshop students will learn to create their own shredded fabric impressionistic art quilt, using a technique originated by Noriko Endo. Fabrics are shredded in class and used to design a scene. Then the design is covered in tulle and top-stitched using free-motion sewing. Lenore will also cover finishing techniques, such as binding the piece and hanging methods.  Lenore will also show how she uses fabric paints to enhance these pieces even more where appropriate. No supplies fee required.

Zero to Sixty: Put the Pedal to the Medal

NBQA members Billie Bunnewith and Kassie Randall are presenting another workshop in their always popular series:

Are you bored with sewing squares and rectangles?  Why not try angles!  In this workshop you will learn techniques for constructing multiple different blocks with 60 degree triangles and no Y seams.  Mix and match the blocks of your choice to create a colorful sampler quilt.  Or, if you prefer, select only one or two block designs to complete your project.  Different layout options for the blocks will also be presented
